We have some great band's in France ! It depend's the genre of music. Rock ? Pop ? Progressiv ? Metal ? Rap ?

A good rock band, Luke

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E4woO3XH8p4

My favorite pop-music artist, Laurent Voulzy

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wga4M808Mlo (with lyrics)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEH8bVrLk1A

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WC2zqLyT9Yk

You can listnen to his friend, Alain Souchon too. His lyrics are a little more complicated.

You can also listnen to

aQme

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_nK9z6dlG0U

In "hip-hop", i like to listnen to Manau ; Lyrics are beautiful

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saxLY6js ... re=related

This song is so sad. The most famous song of Manau is "La Tribu de Dana"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4NRqSrPT ... re=related

In Progressiv Rock, we have Ange, a great band. Lyrics can be complicated sometimes.

I think other mambers of BECK-MCS are better than me for the references in French Music xD

I think that the best Metal French Band is Gojira, but they sing in English :-)

There's a lot of good french bands like Téléphone, Indochine, Trust, Mickey 3D, Louise Attaque, Les Béruriers Noirs (je vous voir venir les autres!), la Mano Negra, Rita Mitsouko...

And if you want to learn French, you have to concentrate on the grammar and read a lot of books for the vocabulary. It may be hard on the beggining but if you keep on learning your lessons i'm sure you will be able to speak french fluently (oh, and french girls like boys with an accent ;-) )

I don't think we Americans have accents. I was thinking of living in another country than the US how is franc's politics, ways of government, people, ect. foods not in issue as I eat everything besides coco products. I've only taken 2 weeks of french class for high school so far and I already like the language more than English( In truth I just hate English as a languish all together). Anyway Keep listing bands and from now on post in french so I can get some pratics. I have a translater on my computer. Bonjur, Dix-Neuf LOL

For the accent ... Well depends who you're talking to :D For instance, since I'm used to british accent, I can easily recognize an American from a British guy. Even more some states of the US are easily recognizable (like Texas :P).

As for living in France ... Well ... Some things are really cool, others really bad. Politics at that time are quite messing up the country, people are generally assholes (that's what we're known for ^__^), and living there is quite expensive. On the other side there are lots of good points ... Like the social security system (actually it's almost the same Obama was trying to set up), we're not "forced" to add tips to every service we get. Usually service is "in the price". And talking about prices, that might be a very stupid "good point", but all prices are with the VAT, so you never have to make calculations about "how much will I really pay".

We could list really cool things about France and others that suck for hours but I guess living here is like living in most of the occidental countries.

Dude Americans are just as much of assholes as the French so that's fine. Any way How exactly are the politics messing up the country. Also is Franc as religious. I'm a Christen( no domination) and was wonder if I had to deal with stupid religious battls like in America, People always say they want to have their choices respected but don't respect others choices(this goes for people in general both Religious and Non-Religious) Also is France as homophobic as America

Well there's a lot of thing going on at the moment. Let's say the big picture is that our president is increasing the separation between lower class and upper class, and by the way pushing middle class into lower classes. But this is the real big picture ... I don't feel comfortable enough with politics and english to sum the things up precisely here :P Sorry.

Also is Franc as religious. I'm a Christen( no domination) and was wonder if I had to deal with stupid religious battls like in America, People always say they want to have their choices respected but don't respect others choices(this goes for people in general both Religious and Non-Religious)

Well France is pretty much the same, except we might be a little less religious than Americans. Religion doesn't intervene in politics (you'll never see the president say something like "god bless France" for instance). Besides that, France tends to be a little more catholic down in the country side and a little more mixed up in the big cities.

We are supposed to be a country of tolerance and laicity but ... once again this is theory ^^

Also is France as homophobic as America

Depends where. Once again the countryside is fa more homophobic than the big cities. But I met lots of homos in Paris and Lyon and you can be sure that in almost every big city of France you have associations and communities of what we call in France LGBT (Lesbian Gay Bi Trans). Think of it as San Francisco ;)

What do ya mean by black french performer ? Is it racial proud or black rooted music ? Lookin for hip hop, blues and soul, or black vocalists in metal bands or so ?

If you like real hip hop, check The Drum Brothers, The Jazz Liberatorz, The Fakehunters, Supreme NTM, Fabe, Assassin, the label Cercle Rouge Records, Gravité Zéro, Hocus Pocus, La Rumeur, La Cliqua, Redbong, Rockin'Squat (Assassin solo MC), Svinkels... and L'Armée des Douze and l'Atelier(harder if you dont understand french, these last 2 are more experimental)

Hey,

One of the best french rock band with a black singer was FFF ( aka "Federation Française du Funk", as French Funky Federation ). Try some tunes of them, it was fucking amazing, like Barbes, AC2N, Nigalize it and an accousic version, which was one of their last gig.

Except them, I don't remember of any rock band with black musicians. I was thinking of Keziah Jones, but he's not french ( well, at least he was playing in french subways before becoming famous ) , and does not sing in french.

In a funky style, there's Juan Rozzof, whose band is quite mixed :) . Try j'ai envie d'te

Also, Manu Katche is a famous black musician which makes TV-Show ( sometimes fucking stupid one, like American Idol ), but he's quite impressive as drummer, in funk / jazz. He has a good show on a French/German Channel. For example, see his performance with Kyle Eastwood. Not the best, but a true one :)
